Apoplectic West Ham fans are fuming now after David Sullivan confidant drops 11-word board meeting update

A board meeting is set to take place at West Ham United on Thursday, and David Sullivan surely only hs one option.

 

The decision should be an easy one to make and that is sacking Julen Lopetegui from his post as West Ham head coach.

 

It is widely believed that the significant majority of the Hammers board are in favour of sacking Lopetegui.

 

The fact that we’re languishing down near the bottom of the Premier League table is actually farcical.

 

Especially when considering how much money Lopetegui spent in the summer transfer window.

 

The most painful thing about his tenure so far has been his failure to implement a clear footballing identity.

 

He’s five months into the job now, and there should be clear signs of progress, but that hasn’t been the case.

 

Julen, it’s time to go…or is it?

 

David Sullivan confidant’s West Ham board meeting update

After Tuesday’s defeat to Leicester, the Hammers are in real turmoil right now.

 

It’s looking more likely that we will be embroiled in a relegation battle, rather than forcing our way inside the top 10.

 

It’s clear for everyone to see that Lopetegui should be shown the door.

 

But are the Hammers owners thinking along those lines as well?

 

West Ham insider Sean Whetstone – one of David Sullivan’s chief confidants – took to his official X account this afternoon.

 

However, his follow up message was far more measured, and it wasn’t what I wanted to hear at all:

 

“Meeting of Board later today. No decision made at this time.”

 

Those 11 words hurt.

 

If Lopetegui was going to be sacked, surely he would have been moved on by now.

 

I get the feeling that he could well be given the Wolves game to prove himself. But what’s the point, seriously?

 

He will be sacked at some point – it’s not as if a win over Wolves is a parameter by which a West Ham manager should be judged!

 

The Spaniard has proven that he’s simply not good enough to be the Hammers head coach.

 

I’m praying that the outcome of the West Ham board meeting is Julen Lopetegui being handed his P-45 by David Sullivan.

 

Judging by the fact that no decision has been made yet though, I feel like we could still be stuck in the dreaded cycle of footballing purgatory for a little while longer.
