West Ham star Mohammed Kudus hit with extended ban after red card against Tottenham
Mohammed Kudus has been fined £60,000 and had his suspension extended to five games after sparking row in West Ham’s defeat away to rivals Tottenham last month
West Ham star Mohammed Kudus has been hit with a further two-match ban after admitting a charge of violent conduct following his red card against Tottenham last month.
The additional suspension, taking his ban to five games in total, means he will be not play again until the Hammers’ match against Leicester on December 3.
And Kudus has also been fined £60,000 after sparking a row in the 82nd minute of the match on October 19 after kicking Spurs centre back Mickey Van de Ven before following up with a shove in his face.
West Ham were fined £30,000 over the behaviour of their players in that incident. The red card Kudus was shown following a VAR review triggered an immediate three-game ban.
Kudus was sent off for lashing out at Van de Ven, with the FA charge relating to him subsequently striking Pape Matar Sarr in the face.
Kudus apologised for the incident in his submission to the independent panel hearing his case, saying he was “deeply embarrassed” by his behaviour in the 20 seconds following the foul on Van de Ven

“He accepted that he had lost his cool and said that his behaviour was out of character,” the written reasons in the case state
He stated that he could not recall the events clearly, but having viewed the footage, he felt that MvdV had exaggerated the incident as there was minimal contact from him
Kudus said the build-up to the match had been “mentally challenging” because he had been away on international duty and had received negative comments on social media with Ghana, whom he captains, dealt a blow in qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The FA pushed for a further three-game ban for the Sarr incident but this was reduced to two matches because two members of the three-person panel felt his admission of the charge and his previous good disciplinary record should serve as mitigation.
West Ham have reportedly lined up two potential replacements for Julen Lopetegui.
After the 3-0 thrashing to Nottingham Forest, Julen Lopetegui is walking on extremely thin ice. Not only have the results been poor, but the performances have been absolutely atrocious.
The Hammers sit all the way down in 14th place as it stands, with just 11 points and three wins to their name. The only win they truly deserved, was the one against Ipswich – a team which is yet to pick up all three points from a game.
According to GIVEMESPORT, West Ham will sack the Spaniard after just 11 league games if his side loses to Everton this weekend.
While they are more then capable of turning this season around with a turn in form, they also could find themselves in an unlikely relegation battle if they’re not careful.
As a result, the report claims that they’ve lined up two potential replacements in Terzic and Graham Potter.
The Former has history with the Irons, having previously spent time at the club as a coach during Slaven Bilic’s time as gaffer. He has recently left Borussia Dortmund after a successful spell where he led them to a Champions League final and came extremely close to winning the Bundesliga.
Potter has been out of work since leaving Chelsea and, on paper, is the exact sort of manager West Ham would usually go for. However, members of the board are not said to be big fans of his, believing his success at Brighton was purely down to their excellent recruitment set up.

Julen Lopetegui is “miles off it” at West Ham after their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Jamie O’Hara has said.
Speaking on talkSPORT with Jason Cundy (2 November, 5:56pm), O’Hara lambasted Lopetegui’s style of football and run of results since taking charge after the defeat at the City Ground.
The Irons, who went into half-time trailing 1-0 and down to 10 men following Edson Alvarez’s second yellow card in stoppage time, are fourteenth in the Premier League table.
Discussing Lopetegui with a talkSPORT caller, O’Hara said; “The manager – you’re absolutely miles off it, he’s an absolute joke.”

The instillation of a new era at the London Stadium was meant to start much more smoothly than this, with Lopetegui and a whole host of big-money signings all arriving at the club this summer.
While blooding effectively a brand-new team was always guaranteed to take some time, a clear lack of a style of play is continuing to hinder Lopetegui’s efforts to finally kick-start the Irons’ ailing season.
A fifth league defeat of the campaign, and certainly not the first which has come emphatically, leaves the Spaniard running out of road when it comes to appeasing an expectant fanbase.
The hiring of Lopetegui – and proceeding to give him well over £100million to spend in the transfer window – was pitched as a step up from David Moyes and the key to qualifying for European football.
So far though, the 28-year-old’s tenure has had far, far more downs than ups, and being comfortably dispatched by a recently-promoted team should set alarm bells ringing for the Hammers hierarchy.
