Fans and great sky sport reporter Michael Dawson exploded live on Sky Sports after how West Ham United defended in their loss against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Irons succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Forest at the City Ground in the Premier League on Saturday (2 November), courtesy of goals from Chris Wood, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina.
Dawson could not believe what he was watching after Aina scored, admitting he should never have been given the chance.
“Disgusting, I still don’t know how he’s scored from here”, he said on Sky Sports [2 November, 4:39pm].
“Elliot Anderson just lends him the ball, he’s playing right-back, he drifts inside like he’s playing in the park, but overruns the ball.
“Todibo… I think it’s Todibo who tries to dink it over, it comes to his chest, sits up lovely, edge of the box, left foot, straight into the roof of the net, 3-0. Forest are in dreamland.”
Julen Lopetegui took some pressure off himself after leading the Hammers to a 2-1 victory over Manchester United last weekend.
However, the defeat at the City Ground will undoubtedly lead to further talks about the Spaniard’s future at the East London club.
West Ham are notably placed fourteenth in the table with three wins after ten games, sitting just five points above the relegation zone.
The Irons hierarchy has a decision to make regarding Lopetegui, with Edin Terzic waiting to move to the Premier League (Sami Mokbel).
Terzic has been mooted as a potential candidate to take the reins at the London Stadium (Sunday Mirror) amid growing pressure on Lopetegui.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager is prioritising a move to England and the Irons could miss out on him if they do not make a decision quickly.
It remains to be seen if the result against Forest will be the final nail in the coffin for Lopetegui.
