West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez did something that had the Nottingham Forest fans in hysterics after his sending off at the City Ground.
Edson Alvarez let his West Ham teammates, the fans and his manager down today, and it’s not the first time it’s happened this season.
The 27-year-old midfielder did exactly the same thing away at Liverpool in the Carabao Cup five weeks ago.
Julen Lopetegui actually admitted just a few weeks ago that he sat down with Alvarez and discussed how he needs to address his disciplinary problems.
It’s simply not good enough from the Mexican. The Premier League is hard enough as it is, and Alvarez losing his head today meant that it was incredibly hard for his teammates to compete with Forest.
In my opinion, this can’t keep happening, and the former Ajax man should be someone who Lopetegui tries to move on in January or the summer at the very latest.
However, there was one funny moment that came from Alvarez’s sending off.The Mexico international getting a red card was nothing out of the ordinary.
His recklessness has caused us problems time and time again over the past 15 months.
But something he did after his dismissal was actually quite funny.
As Alvarez left the pitch, the commentators highlighted how Alvarez must have thought he was playing at Old Trafford, after he got lost trying to find the tunnel!
The Hammers man went to the corner flag and tried to exit the pitch there, but then realised he was at the complete wrong side of the field.
The Nottingham Forest fans were in stitches and poked fun at West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez.
It was a moment where the salt was well and truly rubbed into the Mexican, but he’s only got himself to blame.
He has to sort out his recklessness, or be moved on, it really is as simple as that.
