Tottenham Hotspur return to action on Wednesday night with League Cup action against Manchester City following another disappointing weekend.
Just as Ange Postecoglou would have thought Tottenham had gotten back on track from the defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Lilywhites lost to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
But there is no time for Spurs to dwell on the defeat at Selhurst Park with their Carabao Cup journey taking its next turn on Wednesday in north London.
Pep Guardiola is expected to field a weakened side against Tottenham on Wednesday night as he puts his main focus in the league and Champions League.
However, there now appears to be a team selection decision set to be made by Postecoglou which may not go down well with some fans.
Timo Werner set to start for Tottenham vs Man City
According to GiveMeSport, Postecoglou is set to provide Werner the nod on Wednesday night against Man City.
This comes after the German winger was dropped from the starting XI after being withdrawn at half time against AZ Alkmaar.
Young Mikey Moore started against the Dutch side and sealed the place on the left against Palace on Sunday.
However, with Heung-min Son still out through injury and Wilson Odobert having suffered an injury setback, the £15m Werner is in line to regain the spot on the left.
In a game which will be viewed as a must-win by Spurs fans, this is a decision which may not appeal to all given Werner’s poor start to the season.
Can Tottenham terminate Timo Werner’s loan?
Clubs do hold the ability to terminate loan deals midway through the season with Tottenham having seen Djed Spence’s time at Leeds cut short last season.
It is already believed Postecoglou is looking to upgrade Werner over the summer with a winger capable of playing on both flanks.
However, given the current injury struggles being experienced on the left, it shows just how short it could leave Spurs if they were to let Werner leave.
Without Werner, Spurs would only currently have 17-year-old Moore as a natural left-winger who is fit enough to play.
A replacement would surely have to be found but it is believed Tottenham would offload Werner in January if a club were to show interest.
Fan’s reaction to this decision has caused alot of controversy online
fans told ange he will be hold responsible if Tottenham failed tonight and it may cost his manger job

Stoke City manager wowed by Tottenham loanee Ashley Phillips
Stoke City were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night but Tottenham’s Ashley Phillips was able to score a stunning goal.
Speaking to StokeOnTrentLive after the game, Stoke’s manager Narcis Pelach admitted Phillips could be in for a big future if he continues to develop.
“He had chances against Sheffield United the other day. I’m impressed with his performance today and the other day and he needs to continue in this direction because I think he’s a good centre-back, can be very good in the future,” Pelach said.
