Tottenham Hotspur fans may well be left feeling more could have been done in the summer transfer window after a turbulent start to the season.
Ange Postecoglou’s side did spend considerably, though, with Tottenham breaking their transfer record with the addition of Dominic Solanke.
However, there was one other big money player who the Lilywhites missed out on during the summer window.
Eberechi Eze was of interest to Tottenham over the summer but the Crystal Palace playmaker was hit with a hefty asking price.
With the January window approaching quickly, it seems the Eagles have already made a decision with clubs keeping a close eye on the England international.
Tottenham still keen to sign Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze
According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham are one of the Premier League sides which are still keeping an eye on Eze ahead of the upcoming transfer windows.
Arsenal have also showed interest in Eze and are among other clubs like Manchester City and Newcastle United keen on the playmaker.
However, these clubs already face one issue with the report claiming Palace have already decided they will rebuff any interest in January.
With Palace having already lost the likes of Michael Olise recently, it would take an offer of no less than £60m to see the Eagles part with their prized asset.
James Maddison already approves of Eberechi Eze
Ironically, James Maddison has already given his approval of Eze’s talent despite him potentially being a player who could replace him from the Spurs side.
Maddison has struggled for form at Tottenham this season which may beg the question of whether Postecoglou needs to make a change.
Spurs saw first hand on the weekend just what Eze could offer them after providing a stunning assist for the only goal of the afternoon.
Following Eze’s England debut back in 2023, Maddison hailed the Palace man as a ‘proper player’ in his celebratory Instagram post.
But it is clear Spurs will have to beat some considerable competition to Eze’s signature if they are to sign him.

Sure value’ – Insistence Tottenham deal better than it looked, player’s price keeps rising
Real Betis are guaranteed to make a profit on Johnny Cardoso in future, even if Tottenham take up their option to sign him at any point.
That’s According to marca, who report that the 23-year-old represents ‘sure value’ for the Spanish side on the pitch and off it.
A report earlier today explained how there is a growing belief at Betis that Tottenham will come for Cardoso in the near future. They have an option to buy him for €25m next summer after negotiating a clause as part of the sale of Giovanni Lo Celso.
He was recently one of the star performers in the win over Atlético de Madrid, proving to be ‘orderly and intelligent’ on the ball, dangerous going forwards and ‘destructive’ defensively.
It was a performance that will not have gone unnoticed and has added to the growing belief Cardoso will be on the way sooner rather than later.
Tottenham will be the first in the queue on that front as they have a ‘preferential purchase option’ on him valued at €25m. That cannot be exercised until June next year. There has also been talk of ‘preferential rights’ before then but this has not been confirmed by Betis.
Either way, should Tottenham buy at €25m that would mean a net profit of around €15.2m for Betis after payments, such as one to former club Porto Alegre, are made.
That in itself is a major positive but there’s also the fact that they used it to bring down the price of Lo Celso from €20m to €5m. The Argentine has been starring since his return so that proved to be very smart.
Whether Cardoso can continue his current rise remains to be seen but there is a growing insistence that Betis will make a profit on him and the deal with Tottenham was smarter than it initially appeared.
