David Sullivan readymade decision for Julen Lopetegui replacement as west ham struggle against relegation

David Sullivan must be ready to sack Julen Lopetegui and make an audacious approach to bring Jose Mourinho to West Ham.

Lopetegui’s slow start at the London Stadium and has put him under immediate pressure and he’s yet to win over the fans.
Things do not appear to be rosy behind the scenes either and it could be some cause for concern for the Spaniard.

While there is no indication that he’s close to losing his job, sitting in 15th place with eight points from eight games is not an ideal place to be.

The Hammers will have had expectations of finishing in the top half when they hired the former Real Madrid manager, but find themselves in another relegation battle.
Mourinho, who has been linked with the London Stadium hot seat previously [Fabrizio Romano] and has been backed to succeed there by Jason Cundy, made headlines once again.
“The best thing I have to do is when I leave Fenerbahce, I go to a club that doesn’t play in Uefa competition,” he said, as quoted by the Independent. “So a club at the bottom in England who needs a coach in two years, I’m ready to go.”
While he’s said two years, a return to the Premier League appears to be something that would excite him.
He’s already managed two London clubs and clearly loves the city and the league so it would make sense.

Sullivan would have to make the brave call to sack Lopetegui but before doing that it would make sense to have talks with Mourinho.
If the Portuguese is keen on taking over and results do not improve, the Irons could reach out to the former Real Madrid boss.
