FA JUST ANNOUNCED A FRESH STATEMENT!! TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR HAVE ALSO BEEN CHARGED FOR THE FRACAS THAT OCCURRED DURING THE GAME
Despite West Ham being the ones to get a player sent off at the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur have now also been charged for the fracas that occurred during the game.
Mohammed Kudus causes chaos
With Spurs leading the game 4-1 and time running out, it seemed the excitement in the London derby between Tottenham and West Ham on Saturday afternoon was over as we headed into the final ten minutes.
But, a seemingly innoccous coming together between Mohammed Kudus and Micky van de Ven led to the West Ham forward lashing out and striking the Dutchman in the face.
The incident caused a fracas on the pitch, with Pape Matar Sarr also being hit by Kudus, Richarlison taking an accidental blow to the face, and Brennan Johnson confronting various West Ham players.
Kudus was initially given a yellow card, but after VAR intervention, referee Andy Madley upgraded this to a straight red. He will now serve a three-match ban, but this may end up being more if the FA reviews the situation and deems it worthy of further punishment
FA charges both sides
The latest on the matter has seen the FA dealing out charges to both West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Kudus himself.
A statement from the FA reads: “Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, and Mohammed Kudus have been charged following their Premier League match on October 19.
Tottenham Hotspur allegedly failed to ensure that their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 82nd minute.”
West Ham have been charged with the same, while Kudus “acted in an improper manner” and displayed “violent conduct.”
All parties have until October 24 to “provide their responses” to the charges.
Spurs should appeal
This is very surprising to see Spurs included in the charges, as our players barely did anything wrong. Kudus was pretty much the only player to do anything from either side, to be honest, and he should be charged individually, with no further repurcussions for the two teams.
