Anthony Gordon missed a penalty in Newcastle United’s 0-0 draw with Everton two weeks ago.
Anthony Gordon thanked Newcastle supporters for sticking by him after his penalty fluff by generously funding a round at the Strawberry pub ahead of their game against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The England forward was keen to show appreciation for the fans’ heartfelt support following his spot-kick slip-up in the goalless stalemate with Everton two weeks prior. Magpies were pleasantly surprised to enter the renowned Gallowgate watering hole and find that Gordon had graciously financed their initial tipple.
Moved by the unwavering backing from the supporters after his trying episode at Goodison Park, the gesture didn’t go unnoticed. The well-known local outlet Mouth of the Tyne shared, “Fantastic gesture by Anthony Gordon to put money behind the bar in The Strawberry so that fans can get free drinks pre-match. We showed him the love last time out at SJP and now he’s returning the favour.”
