Manchester City star Jack Grealish has unintentionally put down West Ham United ace Jarrod Bowen in the worst possible way.
Jarrod Bowen has been sensational for West Ham over the past four-and-a-half years or so, but Jack Grealish has just made him look silly, albeit without meaning to.
The 27-year-old Hammers ace was named as the new club captain at the London Stadium before the start of the season, with Julen Lopetegui a big fan of the way that he leads by example on the pitch.
Whilst Bowen hasn’t been anywhere near his best this season, he has still been one of our most consistent performers on the whole.
He was in fine form for the Hammers on Saturday against Ipswich, bagging a goal and two assists in our 4-1 win.
That display made Lee Carsley look rather silly, after the interim England boss left Bowen out of his latest Three Lions squad.
He’s definitely deserving of a place in Carsley’s squad in my opinion, just as he was back in the summer when Gareth Southgate named his squad.
Grealish name-dropped Bowen, when discussing the England squad selection back in the summer for Euro 2024.

Grealish has been speaking about his omission from the England squad in the summer.
He suggested that he has a lot more about him than just goals, whilst praising other players for their output inside the final third.
However, whilst Grealish meant to praise Jarrod Bowen, he kind of made him look a bit silly instead.
When speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (8th October), Grealish majorly belittled Bowen, without even realising it.
“I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t really agree with it because I didn’t feel like I had the best season.“
“You look at some of the players for example in my position, Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon even Jarrod Bowen people like this, they scored a lot of goals which 100 per cent I agree with.“
“But I just know that my game is not just about goals. I think I give so much more to the team than just goals.”
For want of a better phrase, Bowen has been mugged off here by Grealish.
The former Hull City man bagged 20 goals and 10 assists in 44 games in all competitions for the Hammers last season.
In the 2023/24 season, Grealish bagged three goals and three assists, Anthony Gordon had 12 goals and 11 assists to his name and Phil Foden racked up 27 goals and 12 assists.
You can see by those stats that West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen more than held his own alongside some of the big name Premier League attackers.
So I don’t really understand why Grealish felt the need to say the word ‘even’, before bringing Bowen into the conversation.
The Man City star clearly didn’t mean any offence, it was just a turn of phrase.
But Jack Grealish undoubtedly belittled West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen, without meaning to do so.
