Jamie Carragher has told Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou that he might be making two of his best players look worse than they actually are.

Spurs have a perfectly inconsistent record this season in the league of two wins, a draw and two defeats from their opening five games.

Manager Ange Postecoglou is already coming under a touch of pressure as well, with suggestions that his attacking football has been worked out by other teams.
Tottenham, of course, have some of the top players in world football on the books in the form of Heung-Min Son, Cristian Romero and Pedro Porro.

However, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed two of Tottenham’s squad are being ‘exposed’ due to the tactics of Postecoglou.

Writing in his latest column for The Telegraph, Jamie Carragher has praised the defensive duo of Cristian Romero and Mickey van de Ven.

But in doing so, he’s also suggested that Tottenham’s tactics under Postecoglou are leaving the duo exposed.

“As a centre-back pairing, Cristian Romero and Mickey van de Ven – a World Cup winner alongside one of the quickest defenders in the world – have the potential to be one of the best in the Premier League,” Carragher wrote.

It is a valid tactical discussion as to whether they are being left too exposed and might benefit from a more balanced set-up.”

No chance Postecoglou changes

Essentially, Tottenham fans, the pundits like Carragher, and more importantly, Romero and Van de Ven, are going to have just suck it up and accept this is how it is.

Ange Postecoglou will not be changing his tactics or approach anytime soon and with that, everyone will simply have to get on with things.

In some games, Romero and Van de Ven look very capable.

But as Carragher says, sometimes they are left wide open to the opposition and over the course of a season, that’s going to cost Tottenham more points than it wins.

Tottenham continue to be plagued by the same sort of issues they see on a yearly basis and Jamie Carragher has told Ange Postecoglou he must change at least one thing at the club.

Tottenham’s season has seen them pick up two wins from five in the Premier League, with a draw and two defeats showing the inconsistency that has been around for a long time.

postecoglou is intent on playing the way he sees fit at the club. And at times, it has worked.

However, Tottenham fell short of the Champions League places last season after giving up too many goals and ultimately, not winning enough games.

And according to jamie Postecoglou needs to get a grip on Tottenham’s record against the teams they’re meant to compete with.

Writing in his latest column for the telegraph carragher was quick to point out Postecoglou’s record against the top half of the Premier League table.

“Over Postecoglou’s 18 games against the clubs which finished in the top nine last season, Spurs have won four. They are in danger of being seen as flat-track bullies. That must change,” Carragher said.

“As is often the case with managers when the questions get tougher, the demeanour and remarks which were greeted with excitement during a honeymoon period can start to wear thin and become a stick with which to beat a coach when the mood changes.
