Tottenham Hotspur is more likely to strike a deal with Rennes for Dangerous Player as PSG and Bayern Munich bid was rejected

Le Parisien’s Benjamin Quarez recently reported that Bayern Munich was attempting to be aggressive with its interest in Stade Rennais’ Désiré Doué. However, the €35 million bid was rejected because it didn’t meet Rennes’ demands.
Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Tottenham Hotspur are all reportedly interested in the teenager. The 19-year-old had a standout 2023-24 season, playing in 43 games and racking up four goals and six assists in all competitions for the Ligue 1 team.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided the latest on this file as he reports that PSG and Bayern Munich are both heavily pursuing Doué, with both clubs currently leading the race.

Moreover, the Parisians are expected to start serious negotiations with Rennes soon, while Bayern is considering making another attempt. Doué hasn’t made a decision yet and is weighing all his options.

With so many high-profile clubs keen on the youngster, L’ÉQUIPE reports that Rennes wants more than €60 million for the player. As a result, it makes sense as to why the Ligue 1 club have reportedly rejected Bayern Munich’s bid.
Journalist Ben Jacobs also recently reported the latest on this file and perhaps the internal pressure is working for Tottenham. According to Jacobs, Tottenham are currently leading among Premier League clubs in the Doué case.

Tottenham are keen to land a striker in this transfer window as Ange Postecoglou feels this is a key area to strengthen this summer.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham have identified a key area in the team that Ange Postecoglou wants to strengthen this summer. Spurs are keen to land a top striker before the end of the window, as the club might be evaluating its options ahead.

Tottenham want a new striker
Tottenham were one of the exciting sides at the start of last season, but Ange Postecoglou had to deal with major limitations that saw them finish outside of the top four. At the beginning of the previous campaign, Son Heung-min played the striker’s role and p[proved decisive for the manager.
However, Postecoglou may have wanted more support for the South Korean and put plenty of faith in misfiring star Richarlison. The Brazilian may have had a better campaign than his debut outing for Spurs, but overall, for a striker of his quality, he underwhelmed in a big way, which may have ended up costing the team a place in the Champions League.

Hence, Tottenham’s need for a top-draw striker won’t come as a surprise for many, as Postecoglou will have spoken in the background about a need for a player in that position. Spurs are eager to sign a new No.9 before the close of this window, although the prospects of a swift deal remain out of hand at this stage of the window.

Whether they are able to get a player that improves Postecoglou’s current side, as this is a competitive market outside, some of the best teams are all vying for a big striker to join their ranks. Tottenham have made financial arrangements to get a player in place before the end of the window.

Spurs’ striker targets in this window
Over the last few months, it has become clear that Spurs want a striker, and many names have been linked during this period. There were reports of an offer for Ivan Toney, with the Brentford star currently a favourite to leave his current club and make the switch to a bigger side, probably even Tottenham.

Viktor Gyokeres has also been linked in the recent past, although his humongous price point might become an issue for them or other interested parties. Overall, some more definitive names might come into the light in the future, meaning there’s still no clarity on a preferred name that Postecoglou might want.
