Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has seemingly just confirmed the club’s third signing of the summer.
Ange Postecoglou played a key role in Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of midfielder Archie Gray, who has already made quite the impact for the Lilywhites.
As well as this, promising Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall snubbed interest from Barcelona to make the move to Tottenham this summer.
HITC has reported that Tottenham are interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze this summer with the Englishman understood to be unsettled following Michael Olise’s departure from the Eagles to Bayern Munich.
Speaking in his latest press-conference ahead of the new season, Postecoglou has spoken about a potential third summer signing for Spurs.
Postecoglou on Yang Min-Hyuk signing
Speaking to the media, the Australian was asked about the potential of adding Yang Min-Hyuk to his side and the former Celtic manager admitted it was a possibility.
“Yeah, again I’m well aware of the quality of the K League,” Postecoglou told Football.London. “When I was at Celtic we were looking to bring over at least a couple of Korean players at the time and I think they’ve brought a couple over.
“Again they’ve made a fantastic impact in Europe, a lot of Korean players, none bigger and none better than our own Sonny.
“He’s just an outstanding player and an outstanding person. He’s the captain of our club and he’s just an outstanding individual, we’re super happy to have him at our football club.
“So yes, we’ll be looking far and wide for players and as you rightly said, it is difficult for me to discuss (grins).
Yang Min-Hyuk closing in on Spurs move
Little is known about Yang Min-Hyuk but Tottenham are closing in on a deal for the Korean with Fabrizio Romano delivering the famous ‘here we go’ over the deal.
Gangwon FC’s president, however, Kim Byung-ji took to Instagram to say the deal was ’90-95% there’ but ‘not quite done’.
Despite this admission from the club’s president, Postecoglou’s comments, and grin, would suggest Spurs are closing in on their third addition of the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing another teenage sensation in Min-hyuk Yang, and Korean football expert, Sungmo Lee, has high praise for the 18-year-old.
What can Spurs expect from Min-hyuk Yang?
Spurs have been given the ‘Here we go’ from Fabrizio Romano when it comes to the deal for Min-hyuk Yang, who is set to join the Lilywhites in January. An official announcement is expected imminently.
Lee was speaking to Football.London about the prospective new Tottenham player, breaking down the way he plays and what he’s been doing in the K League so far.
He said: “Yang Min-hyuk is the best young player in the K League right now, and most significantly, he’s still a high school student. His talent was so exceptional so his club Gangwon proposed a professional contract to a high school student which was the first ever case in K League’s history.
“He showed great performances in K League this season, winning the Young Player of the Month award three times in a row from April to June. He is a great dribbler but also possesses great finishing skills which makes Korean fans hope that he can become the next Heung-min Son, especially if he joins the same club.”
Meanwhile, South Korean journalist, Jason Lee, spoke to The Spurs News about the teenager, and said: “The best thing about Yang is that he’s equally comfortable on both wings. He’s played 13 games as a right winger, and 11 games on the left.
“Because he’s so two-footed and adept with the ball at his feet, you can play him on either wing and expect him to beat his man, get in dangerous areas, and either showcase his exceptional finishing or cut back to the players waiting in the box.
“As I mentioned previously, he is an exceptional dribbler and will beat his man more often than not. His finishing is superb for his age, and the composure he shows in dangerous positions is exceptional.
“If he can mature a bit physically, he should not be a liability on the defensive side as well. He’s already well-known in the K League for his relentless pressing, and I’m sure time under Ange will only help him grow and develop that side of his game.
“He’s 18 and naturally, there’s going to be a lot of volatility. But he’s in the same bracket of potential as Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, and Mikey Moore for me. Be patient, let him work with Postecoglou, and we very well may see the heir to Sonny.”
A fine first season
As Lee says, Yang has been on fire so far this season in his debut campaign for Gangwon FC, scoring seven goals and adding three assists in 24 games (Transfermarkt).
Once the campaign ends in the New Year, the youngster will join up with Spurs for the first time. It remains to be seen whether he will be integrated into Ange Postecoglou‘s squad immediately or if he will head out on loan first.
