Rio Ferdinand had to apologize for his curse live on TNT Sports ahead of the Premier League match between Newcastle and Tottenham
United icon Ferdinand took part in a quiz with Peter Crouch ahead of Newcastle’s lunchtime kick-off against Tottenham
When asked to name players who played for both clubs, presenter Jules Breach gave a hint
One question asked Ferdinand and Crouch to name the defender who won the FA Youth Cup with Leeds in 1997 and went on to make 300 appearances for six different clubs, including one in Spain
TNT Sports pundits seemed baffled when Ferdinand accidentally recommended Paul Robinson and the late Gary Speed, who never played for Spurs
And Crouch was right: he met Jonathan Woodgate

” The former England international’s gaffe prompted an apology from Breach’s side, with Crouch turning away to hide his laughter
Ferdinand said: “Sorry, I’m too competitive
” Fans on social media were quick to notice the strange side of the situation, with one person writing on X (formerly Twitter): “Rio just pledged TNT Sports [laughing face emoji] ]
” Another person simply said: “Rio Ferdinand” and lots of laughing face emojis
But some people weren’t so lucky

Newcastle are currently eighth in the Premier League after a mixed season and a number of injuries, but are still in contention for a spot in the Europa League
Before the match, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou said Newcastle’s difficult season should serve as a warning if Spurs win Champions League football
“This is definitely a warning,” said the 58-year-old man
“It’s been tough for Newcastle this year because their progress last year was great
“The reward for that was the Champions League
And this year, for whatever reason, it’s been a really challenging season for them on all fronts
