Harry Kane made his return to Tottenham with his new club Bayern Munich and showed his deep affection for his former team.

Kane’s time in Germany has been a familiar story for England’s all-time leading scorer, with the striker netting a heapful of goals without winning a trophy. On his return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, his side did leave victorious, collecting a 3-2 win and winning the Visit Malta Cup, a pre-season trophy.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
It was the first time Kane had played at Tottenham’s stadium as an opposing player, although his involvement was minimal, playing 11 minutes, as he aimed to build up his fitness ahead of the new Bundesliga season. His love for his former club is still strong and he was eager to show his appreciation to the fanbase that cheered some of his greatest career moments. The 31-year-old was particularly emotional when Spurs fans sung their pre-match anthem before kick off.

After the final whistle, Kane went to greet his former colleagues and friends, before he posted on X showing his love for the day.
He said: “Amazing to be back at a place that will always be very special to me. Thanks to everyone for an incredible welcome. Great to get some minutes in the legs and step up the preparation for the season.”
WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?
Kane will return to Germany and play one more friendly against Austrian side Tirol. This will be an even better opportunity to get more minutes in the tank, after coming back from a busy summer with England. He will look to continue his electric goal-scoring form from last year, where he netted 36 league goals, under new manager Vincent Kompany.

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their search for additional attacking reinforcements, even after reportedly securing the signing of Dominic Solanke.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Spurs may be eyeing Santiago Gimenez, a highly regarded forward who has been linked with a potential move to the Premier League.
Romano indicated that there could be notable developments regarding Gimenez in the coming days, hinting at a possible transfer to the Premier League for the 23-year-old striker.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist stated:
“Santiago Gimenez news? I think there could be news for Santiago Gimenez in the next few days. I spect movement around Santiago Gimenez, and I think it could be the Premier League for Gimenez. There is movement. I can’t say more now, but there is movement around Gimenez.”
Despite already bolstering their attack with the acquisition of Solanke, Tottenham appear to be keeping their options open as they evaluate further additions to their squad.
Gimenez, who is currently valued at approximately €40 million, has drawn the interest of several top clubs due to his standout performances in the Eredivisie.
Since joining Feyenoord from Cruz Azul in 2022 for €6 million, the Mexican international has made a significant impact, scoring 51 goals and assisting 12.
He finished last season as the third-highest goalscorer in the Dutch league, registering 23 goals and 6 assists in 30 league appearances, demonstrating his ability to both score and create opportunities.
While Spurs have been linked with Gimenez this summer, it remains uncertain whether they will move forward with a deal, especially following their agreement for Solanke.
Nevertheless, the potential addition of another forward like Gimenez underscores Tottenham’s determination to assemble a squad capable of competing at the highest level on multiple fronts in the upcoming season.
