Mark Lawrenson has backed Tottenham Hotspur to return to winning ways against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The momentum that Spurs built as a result of their fight back at the Etihad Stadium a week ago has been lost due to their loss against West Ham on Thursday, which was the Lilywhites’ third straight home defeat.
The game followed a familiar pattern, with Tottenham struggling to translate their dominance into goals, and with the Hammers taking advantage of a couple of defensive lapses in the second period.
For the first time in his Spurs career, Ange Postecoglou appeared quite frustrated with his players, stating in his post-match press conference that his side lacked any conviction in attack (Football.London).
The Australian will be hoping for a response from his players against Newcastle, with the Magpies, just like Tottenham, missing many of their players (Shields Gazette).

Eddie Howe’s men are coming into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Everton, and Lawrenson believes that Spurs will edge them out on Sunday.
The pundit told Paddy Power: “I saw Tottenham v Manchester City game at the weekend and, whatever you think about Ange Postecoglou, he’s going to play one way and that’s it.
“I thought they were great at City because it looked like they were going to be absolutely buried and they came back. I think he’s a breath of fresh air in the league. Newcastle play later than Spurs so I fancy a home win.”
