“He is the best”Peter crouch says the £43m ‘real deal’player must be playing the best game of his life at Tottenham Hotspur

Peter Crouch admitted that he has been blown away by the start Micky van de Ven has had to his Premier League career, and remarked that the Dutchman will be a major miss for Ange Postecoglou’s side after picking up an injury against Chelsea.

Spurs fans are still waiting for an official announcement about the severity of Van de Ven’s injury and the duration he will be out for.

The way the 22-year-old was holding his hamstring was certainly not a good sign and Postecoglou admitted in his post-match press conference that the injury appeared significant (Football.London).

Alasdair Gold revealed in his recent episode of the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast that the central defender could not even walk to the dressing room after picking up the injury, which suggests he may be facing a long time on the sidelines.

Peter Crouch is a big fan of Micky Van de Ven

Crouch has said that Van de Ven will be sorely missed by the Lilywhites, given how he has completely transformed their defence.

The former Tottenham striker told talkSPORT (7th November, 9:08 am): “I even said last year, that was a problem area for Spurs I think at centre-half. I think with Van de Ven, they’ve signed someone who’s been a revelation I think.

“He kind of made Romero better I think as well and other than last night he’s been really disciplined. Obviously, they’ve got the pace and the tenacity as centre-halves. He is going to be a big miss.”

Van de Ven’s pace was one of the main reasons why we were able to such a such a high line, with the Dutchman often bailing us out with his pace when balls were played in behind the backline. I fear that we will be a lot more susceptible to balls over the top without the 22-year-old in our defence.
