ROY KEANE AND IAN WRIGHT IN A FULL-BLOWN ARGUMENT ABOUT YOUNG BOY ANGES’S DECLARED TO SIGN IN JANUARY and Stewart Robson suggests Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah could find himself in a similar position to Tottenham’s Eric Dier.

Trevoh Chalobah, 24, hasn’t made a single appearance for the Blues this season yet due to a hamstring injury he picked up during the summer’s pre-season tour.
However, there’s plenty of discussion in the transfer rumour mill that the defender could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, journalist Florian Plettenberg reported on X last week that Chalobah is “very likely” to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window.

ESPN pundit Stewart Robson suggests Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino may not have taken a shine to him, which is why he could be sold at the next opportunity. He’s likened it to 29-year-old Spurs defender Eric Dier slipping down the pecking order this season since a change of management over the summer.

“We only see what goes on on the pitch. You think Chalobah is a decent player and why isn’t he getting a look-in? You have to go behind the scenes,” Robson told ESPN.

…Every coach has a different idea about certain players. You just mentioned about [Jose] Mourinho liking Eric Dier, he saw something in Eric Dier that Ange [Postecoglou] doesn’t like, that could be the case with Pochettino and Chalobah.”

There’s strong speculation in the transfer rumour mill pointing towards an imminent Chalobah exit, so perhaps something hasn’t clicked under Pochettino. We may never know how significant his injury blow has played in his future.

In fairness, Chelsea will still be stacked in the centre-back position even if Chalobah goes.

When everyone’s fit, the Blues can pick from Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana at centre-half.
