Tottenham Hotspur will miss out on Jeremy Doku with Kevin De Bruyne helping Manchester City secure his signature.
Rennes winger Jeremy Doku is poised to sign for Manchester City after a nudge from Kevin De Bruyne.
That is according to a report form TEAMtalk, who claim that Doku is now heading to the Etihad Stadium.
The Rennes wide man will be arriving in a deal worth around £51million with City making their move.
It’s understood that Doku is signing a deal until 2026 with City landing their new right-sided winger.
City lost Riyad Mahrez earlier this summer as he landed a big move to Saudi Arabia, so he had to be replaced.
Whilst Mahrez is a winger who likes to cut in on his left foot, Doku is more of a natural wide man who will look to beat defenders on the outside.
The speedy Belgian will now join forces with international teammate Kevin De Bruyne, who is understood to have played a key role in the move.
It’s stated that Doku told City to move for Doku, giving a glowing reference having played with the wide man for Belgium.
City were already considering Doku anyway, but De Bruyne’s recommendation allegedly put him over the likes of Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise.
Tottenham miss out as Manchester City pounce for Jeremy Doku
Doku did have interest from other Premier League clubs but linking up with De Bruyne may have just swung it.
The Independent claimed just last week that Tottenham were joining the race to sign Doku.
The Guardian even reported on Sunday that West Ham submitted an offer to sign the Belgian ace.
However, 90Min reported on Monday that Doku had informed Rennes that he only wanted to sign for City.
That means Tottenham and West Ham have missed out on Doku and must turn their attentions elsewhere.
Ange Postecoglou and David Moyes may now be fearing having to come up against Doku in the Premier League for years to come.
The 21-year-old has truly explosive pace and could cause major problems in this City team if he continues to develop and grow.
