He’s just like Mbape!!!
Journalist praises ‘exceptional’ star forward who Tottenham have agreed personal terms with in recent hours.
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are now being linked with Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel.
According to Bild, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
Bild journalist Christian Falk has claimed on Twitter that Tottenham want to sign Tel this summer.
Falk has noted that Bayern are in talks with Spurs over signing England international striker Harry Kane.
The Times reported this month that Tottenham have offered Kane a new contract worth £400,000 per week.
The 30-year-old striker still wants to leave.
Kane is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of next season.
The Times has reported that Bundesliga champions Bayern have had two bids for Kane already turned down.
Tottenham Hotspur target Mathys Tel is a gem
Mathys Tel is one of the best young forwards out there, and we are not surprised at all that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the French player.
Now, we do not think that the France Under-19 forward is ready to replace Harry Kane in the Tottenham starting lineup, but he would be a very good option to have for head coach Ange Postecoglou.
After all, Bayern would not have signed the teenager from Rennes in the summer of 2022 if he were not good.
Tel made one start and 21 substitute appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayern last season.
The forward scored five goals in those games.
Tel is also very highly rated in the footballing community.
Former Bayern head coach Julian Nagelsmann described the forward as “a very young, talented player who can play different positions” and who is “very quick, strong with his body”.
Bayern’s former sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has been quoted as saying that Tel is “one of the biggest talents in Europe, a very quick, technically strong and versatile striker”, adding that he is “an exceptional young player”.
Bundesliga.com has noted how Tel plays his French compatriot and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.
The website has pointed out that Tel “is similar both in terms of his career path – as an exciting youngster who everyone was talking about before they turned 17 – and in style”.
“He was thrown on to the wing in a 4-3-3 system for his debut, a position Mbappe has excelled in for club and country,” the website added.
