Tottenham has officially declared an interest to sign Arsenal’s 24year old French star with £32m price tag, Aston Villa reportedly in advance talks with him

According to Mohamed Toubache, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Marseille midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi (24), although fellow Premier League side Aston Villa are still in pole position to sign the player.

Toubache reports that Newcastle United are also still interested in the player, but that Villa hold the advantage because of former Arsenal manager Unai Emery and previous Marseille teammate Boubacar Kamara. Les Olympiens reportedly want €32m for the services of the Frenchman.

Guendouzi, who spent the previous season on loan at Marseille from Arsenal before signing permanently, has impressed with his performances in Ligue 1. The 24-year-old’s impressive displays have attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham and Aston Villa leading the chase for his signature. The Athletic reported several weeks ago that West Ham United were also interested in the player.

The French midfielder has two years remaining on his Marseille contract and has performed well this season, contributing five goals and five assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. However, the 2022 World Cup finalist has found himself slightly out of favour with manager Igor Tudor, who has not picked him to start in recent games.

Although Tottenham Hotspur have expressed their desire to bring Guendouzi to North London, it appears that Aston Villa have the advantage at present. The Midlands club is believed to be in pole position to secure the services of the French midfielder.
