Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested that Premier League star midfielder will reject Tottenham Hotspur for Newcastle United this summer.
Speaking on TalkSPORT (10/5 8:42am), Agbonlahor was talking about Tottenham’s potential summer transfer business.
Daniel Levy has a huge job on his hands before the start of next season.
He needs to appoint a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte, although Ryan Mason has thrown his hat in the ring.
The club must also decide if they want to appoint a new sporting director after Fabio Paratici’s resignation.
That appears to be one of the sticking points for Julian Nagelsmann who has been heavily linked with the job.
Finally, the squad needs attention, and the future of Harry Kane needs to be decided.
Tottenham look set to miss out on the Champions League this season, so improvements are necessary this summer.
One player they’ve been linked with is Leicester City talisman, James Maddison.
The 26-year-old looks set to be relegated to the Championship this season unless they can quickly turn their fortunes around.
However, Agbonlahor believes Maddison would choose Newcastle over Tottenham this summer if given the option.
He suggests that St. James’ Park will be a much more attractive option right now than the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Talking about Tottenham’s current issues, Agbonlahor said: “I don’t think players are going to want to come [to Tottenham].
“They could be in the Europa League. For instance, for me, Leicester will go down. Either way, James Maddison is going to leave.
“Is he going to Newcastle or Spurs? He would go to Newcastle every day of the week.
“[They’ve got] Champions League football, they’ve got a project there and are Spurs going to attract the players that they need.”
Some of Newcastle’s players have reportedly been having secret chats with Maddison to convince him to join them over Tottenham.
Against Fulham, Maddison’s frustrations were becoming abundantly clear, and he was taking it upon himself to single-handedly win the game.
That wasn’t possible, and the mood around the Leicester camp doesn’t suggest they’ll survive this season.
He’s the sort of player both Spurs and Newcastle could really do with next season.
