That is according to a report from The Mirror, who claim that Leverkusen are rekindling their interest in Xhaka.
Yet despite Seoane’s exit earlier this season, Leverkusen still want Xhaka with Xabi Alonso now interested.
Alonso and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta are close friends and go way back to their emergence in the Basque Country.
Alonso could now pounce to sign Xhaka though, offering him a return to Germany having left Borussia Monchengladbach in a £30million move back in 2016.
Sport1 reporter Patrick Berger adds that Leverkusen are now ‘working on a transfer’ for Xhaka with Alonso and co seriously chasing a move.

Sky Sports reported last week that key figures inside Tottenham are big fans of Leverkusen boss Alonso.
Spurs are seeking a new permanent manager this summer and are considering a host of options.
Alonso is a candidate and The Mirror even claimed over the weekend that he has become the top target for Daniel Levy.
The Spurs chairman is allegedly prepared to pay Alonso’s release clause and bring him to London.
That makes the Xhaka pursuit very interesting; if Tottenham pounce for Alonso, that could end the Bundesliga club’s interest.
Leverkusen pushing to add Xhaka may even indicate confidence that Alonso will be staying put this summer.
Alonso is still very early into his managerial career and may yet feel that jumping into the Tottenham job isn’t the best move right now.
Arsenal ideally won’t want to lose Xhaka and may now need to keep a close eye on Tottenham’s managerial pursuit with their midfielder’s future up in the air.
